SANCTIONING NOTICE

All Sanctioning processing must go through the Association first before it is sent on to the National office (from the Association Office). Going through the National Office first, will only delay in the processing of the application and receiving the insurance certificates late. The National office sends all sanctions back to the Association office for processing first (reason for processing delay). Any organization who repeatedly sends the sanction applications to the National office first will risk not having their event sanctioned (due to time restrictions).

If anyone has questions regarding the sanctioning process, please contact: Sherry Markham at 970-686-9334 or markhamsherry@yahoo.com

Fulton is 2009 World Youth Trials Champion

Eleanor Fulton of the Zoom Track Club is the 2009 World Youth Trials Champion in the 2000 Meter Steeplechase. Fulton set a new Zoom team and personal record of 6:48.01 improving her best time by 8 seconds. Her previous record of 6:56.97 was set at the USA Track & Field National Championships in 2008 in Omaha Nebraska and is the National USATF record. Fulton also holds the Colorado State Championship record & the Region 10 record in the event. Fulton will also compete in the 3000 meter tomorrow at 8:00 am. The World Youth Trials are being held in Ypsilanti, Michigan on the campus of Eastern Michigan in the Rynearson Stadium.

Top two places at the World Youth Trials are eligible for selection by the USA Track & Field (USATF) selection committee to compete in the World Youth Championships July 8-12 in Bressanone, Italy. USATF will field a partial team to represent the United States at the 2009 IAAF World Youth Championships. Fulton has also met the qualifying standard to participate in the World Championships. The team size will be determined by USATF, and will include no more than 55 athletes. The selection committee takes into consideration an athlete's ability to place in the top 8 for the USA in the World Championships.

Teammate Stephanie Gerber also competed in the World Youth Trials in the 100 meter hurdles. Gerber ran 15.27 for a 17th place finish in this premier national event of the season. Gerber placed 6th in the 2007 USATF National Championships in the 200 meter hurdles & 8th in the 100 meter hurdles. She is the current Zoom record holder in both hurdle races. Stephanie will compete in the USA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, July 2nd at 12:00 pm in the Triple Jump, and will also compete in the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday at 1:30 pm. The USA Outdoor Championships are also hosted at the Eastern Michigan venue.
