Submitting Amendments & Voting Procedure Timeline

In the Boards review of the current Bylaws we found the document needed substantial review. Based on what we found we believe that a number of language "cleanup" purposes (gaps, contradictions, etc.) are necessary. The Board will be proposing amendments to correct these issues.

With the current level of interest by members in updating the "Bylaws, and Regulations of the Colorado Association of USA Track & Field", the Board has established the following procedures and timeline for submitting proposed amendments to be voted on at the Annual Meeting in September. (See Article XIX of the Colorado Bylaws for guidance in submitting amendments.)

In the absence of standing "Law and Regulation and Rules Committee", members should submit their proposals to their respective sport committee chair; the sport committee chairs will then meet with the Board to review the proposals. Deadline for submitting proposed amendments to sport committee chairs - June 18, 2008. Sport committee chairs to meet with Board for review of proposals - June 27, 2008.

Deadline for suggesting changes to proposed amendments - July 11, 2008.
Proposed amendments will be posted on the Association web site for review and suggestions for additions, deletions, or changes at least 60 days prior to Annual Meeting.

Finalized versions of proposed amendments will be posted on the Association web site at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting.

Proposed amendments to the Colorado Association Bylaws will be voted on at the Annual Meeting in September. Note that a two-thirds majority of the voting members present at the meeting is required for passage. Amendments of interest/benefit to a limited segment of the Association membership may have difficulty receiving the required two-thirds vote for passage.
