Welcome from President
President’s Report (see attached) was reviewed. Added notes:
* LDR will host the 2007 National Cross Country Meet
* Big thank you for continued support from University of Colorado and The Air Force Academy.
* Big Thank you to Creigh Kelly for his support of Long Distance Running and the Road Races, we really appreciate it.
* Matt Hemmingway qualified for the IAAF Championships
* Three of our Colorado Juniors competed in the Pan Am’s
Accreditation Review (see attached): 2005 review will be release in Aug/Sept 2006
National News:
* 2007 mandatory increase in membership fees. The fees options will be discussed at the national meeting in December, 2006. To prepare for this change, our association is raising the fees to $15 for youth and $20 for adults.
* 2007 mandatory background checks will begin for coaches, board members and officials. The process is at the discretion of the association, however guidelines are provided by the national office. Currently, discussion is happening with the national office and will continue at the national meeting around storage of the information obtained for the background checks. We do not want the information housed at the association level due to changes in personnel and this is volunteer based. The information is too vital to store in a garage or storage unit. Background checks will cost the association $1.75 per person if we use the recommended company. By using the recommended company, the results are also supported by the national office in the case of a problem. We need to fill the position with a highly qualified person, preferably an individual with law experience (officer, attorney, etc).
* Possible split in the national office for the High Performance Groups. We will watch to see how this affects our organization.
Committee Reports:
* Masters (see attached report): Submitted by Jerry Donley.
o 02/26/2006 Masters Indoor meet at Air Force Academy
* Race Walk: Submitted by Mike Blanchard: Currently have 5K’s and 10K’s underway. In April, they will host a 10K/20K on road and in June a 5K on track. They took a Gold and Silver in Edmonton, Combined Gold and Silver, Bronze in Spain and the Heart Team took Gold last weekend. Nationally, the race walk team is performing extremely strong.
* LDR (see attached): Submitted by John Tope.
* Youth: Submitted by Don Sinclair and Sheila Coe: We currently have 1750 members. We will have 6 Indoor meets and a championship. For Outdoor this year we had numerous developmental meets leading up to State Championships where over 970 athletes competed and hosted the Region X Championships with over 1200 athletes. There were over 300 Colorado Youth Track and Field athletes at the 2005 State Games of America National meet in Colorado Springs, CO. We currently have 84 separate youth clubs with active memberships. We wish to give a BIG THANK YOU to John Greene for his continued support of the association and the sport. His continued support of facilities and support of field events (pole vault) with the high school associations is greatly appreciated.
* Women: submitted by Chris Turner: We have a great group of Junior coming up. Three were on the Pan AM team and 5 All-Americans!
* Officials: Submitted by Morris Vogel: We want to increase our pool of certified officials to over 213 this Olympiad. Please contact Morris Vogel for more information on becoming a certified official.
* Membership: submitted by Sherry Markham: We had 146 sanctioned meets. $37,570 in sanction fees (only $6,140 went to the association). We are raising the sanction fee to $45 for the association level. The national fee will remain the same. 90 events were sanctioned by members, 70 events were sanctioned by promoters and we held 11 State Championships. We raised the number of sanctioned events over last year. There will not be a raise in club membership fees this year, however, they must be in by May 1, 2006 to avoid the $100 late entry fee. The National office will charge $100 for memberships not in to them by May 15, 2006. We have 1750 Youth memberships and 957 Adult memberships.
* Message from the Vice-President: We need to support our athletes and have more certified officials. Please contact Morris. Also, the clubs need to keep their commitments. If your club volunteers to help at an event, you need to showup as promised.

Each committee needs to work with them for their individual pages. We are looking to meet with them in March for a committee “web workshop”. Please continue to email or telephone them with updates and changes.
